The Bastyr community welcomes you into a vibrant network of students, faculty and staff who are passionate about making a difference, supportive of each other and dedicated to transforming lives through the use of natural medicine.
The Bastyr University community will ignite and nurture your passion to heal holistically. While our university setting is small enough to offer the flexibility and intimacy of a stand-alone TCM school, Bastyr students also have access to the physical and technical resources and support services common to a larger institution.
Campus Resources
The campus Natural Health Sciences Library houses more than 19,000 volumes on complementary and alternative medicine. Additional resources abound, including a medicinal herb garden, bookstore, vegetarian cafeteria, laboratories and research facilities and computer kiosks. Low-cost health care is offered through the Bastyr Center for Natural Health. Bastyr also offers a number of student support systems, including the student tutoring program, parent resource center, cooperative child care, and a counseling and wellness center.
Campus Involvement
Bastyr believes that students thrive when they engage and interact. You'll find many ways to explore special interests including regular on-campus "brown bag lunches" and book signings. Third-year AOM students host the popular campus-wide Chinese New Year celebration. The Herb and Food Fair is held on the Bastyr campus each May, and Tibetan monks visit annually to hand make a sand mandala in the chapel foyer.
The Great Outdoors of Washington and the Pacific Northwest
If you enjoy the great outdoors, you will love our 50-acre campus, which is adjacent to the lush woodlands of St. Edward State Park and the northern shore of Lake Washington. The surrounding hiking paths, bicycle trails and playing fields provide plenty of opportunities for exercise as well as quiet contemplation. Bastyr is just a short distance from the Seattle metropolitan area with its rich cultural activities and entertainment. You won’t find a more diverse range of recreational opportunities and beauty than that offered by the Pacific Northwest's parks, beaches, mountains and waterways.
For even more information on Washington’s three national parks, (Mount Rainier National Park, North Cascades National Park and Olympic National Park), national forests, protected and designated wilderness areas, visit the National Parks website.
